Trip 1 - Smithsonian National Zoo
TeenCityScapes is an opportunity for teens (13-18) to learn how o navigate the community and beyond. In this program students plan, implement, and review field trips without adult chaperones.
The goal of this program is to assist teens in the development of responsible independence, increase community awareness, and navigational skills.
To recognize and describe various landmarks, historical places, performances, and services available in the general area.
To explain, describe, summarize and interpret their experiences traveling with other teens
To execute field trip plans with other students and apply navigational skills to use public transportation
To critique varying experiences for value added,
To develop an appreciation for the area in which he/she lives
To plan varying trips with purpose, safety, and fun
To assess, report on, and communicate about the field trip experiences.
To apply technical skills in creating a group travel blog.
This program will run from mid-October through the end of May.
Students will participate in 6-8 field trips
Current Charis Center students pay for SmartTrip cards and admissions
Students registering for TeenCityScapes as a stand-alone program: $350.00 plus Smarttrip cards and admissions.
